An event was held at a reception for stakeholders at The Glassworks Sixth Form Centre on Thursday 5th June to mark the launch of the Folkestone THI. There was also news of potential further buildings that have been identified as priorities for work, and about other aspects and benefits associated with the initiative.
The evening started with a speech from Mr Paul Hudson on behalf of the HLF in his capacity as Chairman of the HLF Southeast Committee. Further speeches were given by Sean Holden, Deputy Cabinet Member for Economic Development at KCC, Councillor David Monk, Leader with responsibility for overall Strategy & Leadership at Shepway District Council and Alistair Upton, Chief Executive of the Creative Foundation on behalf of the FTHI partnership.
A presentation was given by Dan Stone, Folkestone Townscape Heritage Initiative Project Manager focusing on Folkestone and the key aspects of the initiative over the next 5 years to be delivered.
The evening culminated with the cutting of a cake in the shape of the FTHI area and everyone enjoying a reception of drinks and food catered by The Glassworks Sixth Form Centre.
