Historical dig happened at 22 The Bayle, Folkestone - 29th September 2016 - 2nd October 2016.
Delivered by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust and Operation Nightingale - ex disabled servicemen from the Armed Forces, a volunteer’s rehabilitation programme.
‘The Bayle’ is believed to derive from the presence of a Medieval castle (or Bailey) on the site. Although no direct evidence of this fortification has been found, but the large ditch located during the evaluation at 22 The Bayle may well be the castle ditch. The purpose of a renewed dig aimed to confirm this.
