An amble around the Bayle — Monday 1st June 2015

Go Back

This June, archaeologist Andy Linklater and local historian Eamonn Rooney lead a relaxed ramble around the historic heart of Folkestone. Setting off from outside the Guildhall Pub in the Bayle, the walk meandered down the Bail Steps, up the Old High Street, winding around to its conclusion in St Mary and St Eanswythe Church. Among other things, the walk featured the narrowness of the Old High Street buildings, how buildings were adapted to suit the fashion of the day and the shifting physical boundaries of the church. Thank you to everyone who attended, and Timelocked for their help in organising this.
